ABOUT RSI


The first of its kind, RSI is a national, preeminent institute created to equip and sustain rural communities in an ever-changing tech economy. The institute launched January 2020 at Georgia’s designated public liberal arts institution, Georgia College & State University. Located in America’s Black Belt Region, RSI is surrounded by rural influencers and experts to help address the ongoing struggles of Small Town USA and to identify opportunities for success in rural communities. Its mission: establish best practices and solutions that help strengthen rural communities for the future.

Meet the Team

Dr. Veronica L. Womack

Executive Director



A political scientist and rural researcher, Dr. Womack has spent nearly 20 years in higher education. She became the Rural Studies Institute at Georgia College's first executive director. She previously served as the university's chief diversity officer and professor of political science and public administration. She focuses her work on the underdeveloped rural South.
 

Kimberly Moore

Operations Manager



Overseeing RSI's organizational processes, Kimberly Moore is an experienced project management professional. Before joining the institute, Moore served as administrative assistant for Georgia College's Office of Inclusive Excellence. She has held university support roles in accounting and as a financial adviser in the Office of Financial Aid.
